Barb and Bill's PA Limestone Mine Adventure
It was an easy drive and we even had enough time to stop for lunch. Once back on the highway we had only one more exit to go, then about 19 miles of back rural roads leading to the mine.
Bill and I arrived a few minutes early so we had time to take off the propane tanks and move them to the bed of my pickup. I checked in with the office and we waited for the valets to come and escort us into the mine to our parking space.
The valets pulled up and were right on time. They measured the exact length( for monthly pricing) and the exact height( to make sure the unit cleared the ceiling). At this point you return to the office to get your pricing and an ID tag for the camper.
We followed our valet through quite a few turns and as we entered we could tell we were passing the largest RV's and Fifth wheeled trailers. Those need to be in general storage( 50 degrees, 50% humidity) with a 12' ceiling.
At one point we entered through what looked like a double garage door and there are a lot of these we had passed. These areas are climate controlled( 65 degrees, 65% humidity) and have a 11' ceiling.
As we made the last turn or two our valet lined us up for the coach's spot. It was exciting to see all the other campers and boats in what seemed to be about a 10 minute drive to our parking spot.
Our camper is 24' long and exactly 9' 5" tall.
In April I'll call for another appointment to pick up the camper. They give you plenty of time to double check your trailer before leaving. In the spring they'll help me tow it out. The valets are prepared to jump the jump the battery and add air to tires if need be.
Currently the mine is storing just over 1,000 campers/RV's/boats with about 50 more holding reservations still for this winter. This total is just for the climate controlled area.
Time: picked Bill up at 10am, dropped him off at 5:30pm
Gas: put an extra $25 in the tank on the way home
Miles: About 300 round trip
Snacks: Nothing like Oreo double stuffed cookies
Stories: If you haven't traveled with Bill you've missed out on some good life stories and conversations.

Trailer Wintering in PA
Decided to protect our coach with indoor storage.
Not to far from Slippery Rock Creek are several limestone mine underground storage companies.
You are always escorted in or can have a valet service bring your unit in and out.
Our camper will be out of the wind, rain, hail and snow until April!
If it's good enough for an Airstream owner then it's good enough for me!

Crazy Signs
When we travel we'll be posting any crazy signs........................
When was the last time you saw a Road Ends in Water sign?
Personal Touches.......................
Gotta love Ikea to come up with a key and leash holder. Connie and I left it with our builder and they installed it for us! |
Used a Command Strip Key Holder to double as a Pot Holder. |
Paper towel holder installed. |
Added tap lights to underside of pantry shelves. |
Love all the space in the kitchen! |
Storage Ideas
Added a extra hook to the front. Hooks are great since we gave up a closet for a pantry instead. |
Dinette seating has a side ledge. |
When you drop the back cushion there's even a little storage nook! The underside of the dinette cushions have vinyl. Just in case you have a wet behind from boating or swimming! |
Storage pocket at entrance holds flashlights and of course JUNK! Rose's little fold up step stool fits perfect. Makes it easy for her to reach upper kitchen cabinets. |
Plenty of pantry shelves and extra storage attached to inside of door. |
Waterproof Cargo Bag
This set up works great. It's a Curt cargo tray with a etrailer waterproof cargo bag.
The bag fits into the tray and can hold items 24"wide x 24"high x 60"long.
The camper is 87" wide.
The camper is 87" wide.
The trailer came with a rear hitch receiver already installed. At the rear corner of the camper is the furnace. You need to leave enough room as this area gets very hot.
This new set up worked out perfect
as there is plenty of space between the corner of the tray, bag and the furnace vent.

Packed the bag with all the camp chairs and very light items. Rained for an entire night and day and everything in the bag stayed dry. The dog's bed was bone dry! Ran the furnace because it was cold and there was no problem with the distance between exhaust vent and bag's corner!

Happy Campers
Tour of our Taylor Coach
Raised toilet and sink make this space comfortable. Medicine and linen cabinet plus a space for our clothes hamper. |
Left side of bathroom has a tub/bath combo. Plenty of elbow room. Total bathroom space is 3' x 5'. Extra for us is also an outside shower!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Plenty of room for Paddy! |
Rose enjoying the dinette area which converts to a full sized bed! Above is a bunk rated to 200lbs. Lots of storage there if a bunk bed is not needed. |
Jensen Stereo. Our 22" 12v TV can mount up front, in the rear or even outside! |
Coat hooks were added to the front since we opted for a pantry instead of a closet. |
